Graduation party invitations for a crowded season

Graduation season is short and busy. In the same few weeks of May and June every family in the class is planning an open house, and guests often visit three parties in one afternoon. A clear graduation party invitation, sent early, puts your date on their calendar first and tells you roughly how much food to order.

A digital graduation invitation shows the graduate’s name, the school and class year, the party time and address, and a map link. Each guest replies from a personal link, so grandparents, classmates and neighbours all land in one list. It is free, and guests need no app.

Cap, gown and after

Graduation invitations for every milestone

High school graduation party

The classic backyard open house. Give a time window, such as two to five in the afternoon, so guests can stop by between parties.

College graduation

A dinner or party after commencement, often with relatives who travel. Send it early and add the restaurant’s map link.

Graduate school, nursing and law school

A pinning ceremony, a hooding or a doctorate deserves a more formal invitation and a seated dinner.

Joint parties

Two or three friends share one party and one invitation. Name every graduate; one parent signs in and creates the links for all the families’ guests.

Kindergarten and eighth grade

A small family celebration for the youngest graduates, with cake after the school ceremony.

University graduation in the UK

A family lunch or drinks after the summer ceremony, or a leavers’ party at the end of school.

Timing

When to send graduation party invitations

  1. 6–8 weeks before

    Out-of-town family

Relatives who need flights or a hotel should hear first, especially for a college commencement weekend.

  2. 3–4 weeks before

    The party invitation

The usual window. In a large class, send it a week earlier so your date is on calendars before the others.

  3. 1–2 weeks before

    RSVP deadline

Enough time to order catering, the cake and rentals such as tables and a tent.

  4. After the party

    Thank-you notes

Your guest list shows everyone who replied, which makes the thank-you notes easier to write.

Digital or printed

Digital vs. printed graduation invitations

Printed graduation announcements share the news with people who may not attend. A party invitation asks for an answer. Plenty of families mail a few announcements and send the party invitation as a link.

Questions

Graduation invitation questions

Are these graduation party invitations free?

Yes. Designs, the animated opening, personal guest links and RSVP tracking are free, with no paid package and no payment details.

When should I send graduation party invitations?

Three to four weeks before the party, and six to eight weeks ahead for family who must travel. In the United States that usually means late April or early May for a party in late May or June.

What is the difference between a graduation announcement and an invitation?

An announcement tells friends and relatives that the student has graduated and asks for nothing. An invitation asks people to come to the ceremony or the party and to reply.

How do I send graduation invitations by text or WhatsApp?

In your account, create a personal link for each classmate, relative or family. Copy the link and paste it into a text, an email or any chat, or tap the Share on WhatsApp button next to it to open WhatsApp with the message already written. Guests reply on the invitation itself, and every reply arrives in your account.

What should a graduation party invitation say?

The graduate’s full name, the school and class year, the date and time window of the party, the address, who is hosting and the date you would like replies by. A line about future plans is a nice touch.

Can I invite people to the ceremony and the party on one invitation?

Yes, if everyone is invited to both. Add the ceremony and the party as moments in the programme, which holds up to five. If ceremony tickets are limited, make a second invitation for the smaller group.

Can whole families reply together?

Send one link per household, for example “The Nguyen family”. One person replies and uses the note to say how many are coming. A plus-one, when you allow it, covers one extra person.

Do guests need an app to RSVP?

No. The invitation opens in any browser, and guests reply without an account. Only the host signs in.
