Choose Evite if you want to invite a big group for free and your guests won’t mind ads: its free invitations take up to 750 guests. Choose Paperless Post if the invitation should feel like stationery and you have 50 guests or fewer, or you are happy to pay per guest for a Card. If you want neither ads nor a fee per guest, read on: the other services, and Reponelle, are compared below.

Evite: the best-known name, with ads on free invitations

Evite is the service many people mean when they say “send an evite”, and many guests already know how its invitations work. That familiarity is a real advantage: a guest who recognizes the sender is more likely to open the invitation. As listed on 24 October 2026:

  • Designs labelled Free cost nothing to send unless you add a Premium upgrade. The upgrades include an envelope or stamp, a sticker, a background and ad removal (Source: Evite Help Center: Invitation Pricing).
  • Advertisements appear on a free invitation until the Premium fee is paid (Source: Evite Terms of Service).
  • Free invitations support up to 750 guests, and Evite Pro raises the limit to 2,500 guests per invitation (Source: Evite Help Center: Guest List Limit).
  • Premium is priced per event by guest count: $17.99 for up to 12 guests, $36.99 for 30, $68.99 for 75 and $99.99 for 750. Evite Pro costs $249.99 a year (Source: Evite Help Center: Invitation Pricing).
  • You can invite guests by email, by text to US and Canadian phone numbers, or with one shareable link for a group chat, a social post or your own email (Source: Evite Help Center: How to Send Invitation). WhatsApp is not named.
  • Guests need neither an account nor the app: the link the host sends is all they need, and they choose an answer and add a headcount (Source: Evite Help Center: How to RSVP).
  • You can upload your own design as a JPG or PNG, but those templates are Premium, so you buy a package to send them (Source: Evite Help Center: Upload Your Own Design).

Where Evite is stronger: the name guests recognize, a very large free guest list, apps for hosts and a wide choice of free and Premium designs. Where it is weaker: ads on free invitations, and a price per event as soon as you want an envelope, an effect, no ads or your own artwork.

Paperless Post: the most paper-like designs

Paperless Post is the choice for hosts who want a digital invitation that still feels like stationery. Its Cards arrive in an envelope with a liner and a stamp, and the designs are some of the most polished you can send online. That look is what you pay for. As listed on 24 October 2026:

  • A Flyer you design from scratch is free to send to up to 50 guests, never includes ads for you or your guests, and comes with RSVP tracking (Source: Paperless Post: Free Online Invitations).
  • With the free feature set, the first 50 invitations sent by email or phone number are free. Cards are priced per guest: $0.50 for Basic, $1.05 for Premium and $1.44 for All Access, paid in Coins (Source: Paperless Post: Pricing).
  • The Premium feature set adds the envelope, liner and stamp, and a yearly subscription costs $250 for 250 guests, uploading your own design included (Source: Paperless Post: Pricing).
  • You can send by text or email, or drop the link into any text message, group chat or DM, and you can start a free invitation from your own JPEG or PNG (Source: Paperless Post: Free Online Invitations).
  • Guests never have to log in to an account just to view or RSVP (Source: Paperless Post).

Where Paperless Post is stronger: the paper-like Cards, with envelopes, liners and stamps, and no ads on its free invitations. Where it is weaker: the free option stops at 50 guests, and a stationery-style Card for a large wedding is priced guest by guest.

Punchbowl: character designs and a paid membership

Punchbowl stands out for children’s parties, with designs featuring characters children know. Its home page talks about free invitations, and its membership page explains how sending works after a free trial. As listed on 24 October 2026:

Where Punchbowl is stronger: licensed character designs for children’s parties, and plans for very large guest lists. Where it is weaker: after the trial it is a monthly membership, and only Platinum removes ads.

Greenvelope: no ads, one price per event

Greenvelope sells elegant digital invitations delivered in a digital envelope, for a one-time price per event. As listed on 24 October 2026:

  • Pricing is a one-time amount set by the size of your guest list, starting at $19, with no subscription required (Source: Greenvelope: Pricing). Annual memberships are offered too.
  • Trial mode sends greeting cards to up to 10 people for free, and any mailing or invitation sent to more than 10 people requires an upgrade (Source: Greenvelope: Pricing).
  • There is no advertising in the invitation, on the RSVP page or in the email guests receive, and guests have no account to create and no app to download (Source: Greenvelope: Pricing).
  • Invitations go by email, by text message in supported countries or by WhatsApp, and you can upload your own artwork as a JPG, PNG, PDF or GIF (Source: Greenvelope: Pricing).
  • Hosts see yes and no replies, open rates and survey answers in real time, and the guest experience is offered in English, Spanish, German, French and Dutch (Source: Greenvelope: Pricing).

Where Greenvelope is stronger: no ads anywhere, WhatsApp delivery, open rates and uploads in four file formats. Where it is weaker: there is no free way to invite more than 10 people, and the page does not state a maximum guest count.

Reponelle: free, without ads, in twelve languages

Reponelle is the free invitation tool we make, so read this section knowing that. Here is what it does today, and what it does not.

  • Everything is free: every design, the animated openings, the personal guest links and RSVP tracking. There are no paid plans and no payment details.
  • There are no third-party ads, for you or for your guests.
  • Up to 1,000 guests per event, each with their own personal link. Add guests one at a time, or paste a list of names to create all their links at once.
  • Guests reply going, maybe or declining on their link, with one plus-one at most when you allow it, one dietary choice and a short note. They can change their reply until your deadline.
  • Every reply arrives in one guest list in your account, with totals for each answer and for the guests who have not replied yet.
  • Twelve languages, including Arabic with a full right-to-left layout, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Each invitation is written in one language you choose; for a bilingual event, write both languages in your message or make a second invitation.
  • Guests open their link in any web browser, with no app and no account. You need a free account to save the invitation and create the links.
  • Each guest’s link has a Share on WhatsApp button, and you can copy any link into a text, an email or another app.

What Reponelle does not do: you cannot upload your own artwork, so you choose one of its designs and write your own words. It does not send invitations or messages to your guests for you: you share each link yourself, and you follow up yourself with anyone who has not answered. And it is much newer, and far less known, than Evite.

Which Evite alternative should you choose?

If you want…Consider
A free invitation for a big guest list, and ads don’t bother youEvite, free for up to 750 guests
The look of paper stationeryPaperless Post Cards
A free invitation without ads for 50 guests or fewerPaperless Post Flyers, or Reponelle
A free invitation without ads for more than 50 guestsReponelle, free for up to 1,000 guests
Disney or other character designs for a child’s partyPunchbowl
To pay once per event, with no adsGreenvelope, from $19
To send your own artworkPaperless Post, Greenvelope, Punchbowl or Evite Premium
An invitation in Arabic, Chinese, Turkish or PolishReponelle, in 12 languages
Personal links you send on WhatsApp yourself, for freeReponelle

For a casual party, any of these will do. The differences show at the edges: a very large guest list, no budget at all, ads, the language your guests read and how much the invitation should look like paper.

Switching from Evite to another service

If you have already sent an invitation on one service and want to move, plan the switch so that no guest is left confused about where to reply.

  1. Write down the replies you already have, so you know who has answered.
  2. Copy your guest list, with each name the way you want it on the invitation.
  3. Create the new invitation with the same date, time and place, and set an RSVP deadline.
  4. Create the guest links. On Reponelle, you can paste the list of names to create every link at once.
  5. Send each guest their new link with one line of explanation, such as “We’ve moved our invitation. Please reply here, even if you already answered.”
  6. Keep an eye on the old invitation until everyone has answered on the new one.

How we compared them

We read each company’s own pricing, help and product pages on 24 October 2026 and used only what they state. Where no page said something, the table says “not stated”. We compared the free or cheapest way to send an invitation with RSVP to guests in the United States; prices are in US dollars, may differ in other countries, and some pages showed promotional prices. The facts about Reponelle come from the product itself.

We left out services that are mainly wedding websites or graphic design tools.
