The engagement party is the first time both families and both sets of friends meet in one room. It is usually smaller and more relaxed than the wedding, and it is often arranged in a few weeks. An online engagement party invitation fits that pace: you can make it tonight, share it tomorrow and know by the weekend who is coming.
Choose a refined design, add your names, the date and the place, and send each guest a personal link. Guests reply attending, maybe or declining, and you see the headcount before you book the table or order the champagne. It is free, and it stays separate from your wedding invitation and its guest list.
Create your free invitationFrom the proposal to the party
Cocktails, a dinner or a backyard party hosted by the couple or their parents. Say who is hosting in the first line.
A seated meal for the two families. Ask for dietary needs in the RSVP so the restaurant can plan.
Guests gather while the proposal happens nearby. Give an arrival time well before the couple walks in, and say it is a secret.
South Asian families often mark the engagement with a ceremony of its own. Add the ritual and the dinner as moments in the programme.
Some families hold the khitbah, the engagement itself, as a gathering of its own; others sign the marriage contract at the same occasion, ahead of the wedding party. The invitation can be written in Arabic with a full right-to-left layout.
A casual evening at a bar or pub, common in the UK and Australia. A short invitation and a quick reply are all it needs.
Timing
Parents and siblings should hear the news from you before an invitation arrives on their phone.
The usual window. Two to three weeks is fine for casual drinks with friends who live nearby.
Close replies in time to confirm numbers with the venue. Guests can change their answer until then.
The replies stay in your account, a useful start when you write the wedding guest list.
Digital or printed
Most couples save printed stationery for the wedding itself and send the engagement party invitation online. Here is the difference.
| Digital invitation | Printed invitation | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free on Reponelle | Printing and postage, months before the wedding budget starts |
| Speed | Made and shared in an evening | One to three weeks to design, print and mail |
| RSVPs | Replies collect in one guest list | Texts and calls to both families |
| Changes | Edit once; every guest link shows it | Message everyone again |
| Details | Programme, dress code, map link, countdown and add-to-calendar | What fits on the card |
| Keepsake | A link you can open again | A card for the wedding album |
Questions
Yes. Every design, personal guest links and the RSVP list are free, with no payment details. A separate, paid Wedding concierge is coming soon for couples who want their wedding invitations designed and sent for them.
Traditionally the bride’s parents, but today the couple, either family or close friends may host. Whoever hosts signs in, creates the invitation and shares the links.
Four to six weeks before the party, which is usually held within a few months of the proposal.
When the invitation is ready, create a personal link for each guest or couple in your account. Copy the link and paste it into a text, an email or any chat, or tap the Share on WhatsApp button next to it to open WhatsApp with the message already written. Guests reply on the invitation itself, and every reply arrives in your account.
By custom, yes: anyone invited to the engagement party expects a wedding invitation. If the wedding will be small, keep the engagement party small too.
Both names, who is hosting, the date, time and place, the dress code and the date you need replies by. Many couples add a line that gifts are not expected.
If you allow it. You choose whether the invitation offers a plus-one; each guest may bring one person at most.
Yes. Each invitation is written in one language that you choose: English, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Italian, Indonesian, Polish or Turkish. For two families who read different languages, make a second version and send each guest the one they read best.
